I Did A Search Before Posting This

So, just in case you want to claim you wrote about this already, I checked. With that in mind, we here at SUPERMEGADIO!!!!! just wanted to say we've decided there's only one good thing about the Iraq War. All those Marvel characters with origins in Vietnam now have a more recent war to tie their origins to. Especially seeing how this war is playing out. Those who fought in Korea, now can be said to have fought in the Gulf War, and those who fought in Vietnam can now have fought in the Iraq War. Everyone wins!

Unfortunately, the fact that many characters were drafted to fight in the Vietnam War was pretty important to their stories (Flash Thompson and Charles Xavier come to mind) so newer wars don't work as well.

Hmm, do these stories not play as well without the draft angle? Such as having Flash (if he's ever seen again), not mentioning the draft, just the fact that he suffered through an unpopular war? Though I guess, then you don't have to mention Iraq specifically, then? It does help to have an unpopular war more recent though, doesn't it?

I was just trying to help out the Bush legacy!

Well, in both cases, story points hinge on the characters having to leave for the army against their will. Xavier would have married Moria McTaggert if he wasn't drafted into the Korean War. Flash got pulled out of college - and yes he is seen again, with a Vietnamese girl friend.

Still, i appreciate Bush's effort.
